It is believed in our tradition that we in this human world live alongside many other (unseen) beings in adjacent world systems. Our natural environment, including the sea/ water bodies and the natural landscape around us, are inhabited by beings such as Nagas and Yakshas. These beings are capable of bringing auspicious conditions but can sometimes also cause illnesses and diseases if offended by human activity.
It is in this context that the Jüngter Ritual (meaning “Treasury of Natural Resources”) is important. The Ritual involves the preparation and blessing of treasure pouches containing biodegradable sacred substances such as stones, medicinal herbs and fragrances, and releasing them in rivers, lakes, and oceans as an offering, is aimed at generating positive conditions for those in our human realm. The efficacy of Jüngter Ritual comes from the blessings of the Yellow Dzhambala, the Buddhist Wealth Deity, who is invoked for this purpose.
Come with us as we travel off-shore to Pulau Ubin. We will deposit the blessed treasure pouches out at sea and then head to a local temple on Pulau Ubin where we will hoist prayer flags and conduct smoke offerings. We pray that this will bring spiritual and material wealth and success to all devotees.
