Maha Tare Buddhist Centre Mourns the Passing of Mr Lee Kuan Yew

Sincere Prayers for Our Former Prime Minister Mr. Lee Kuan Yew (1923-2015)

We are deeply saddened to learn of the demise of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew (16 September 1923 – 23 March 2015) on Monday. On behalf of the Maha Tare Buddhist Centre-Singapore, I share with the people of Singapore the great grief of this irreparable loss and offer my deepest condolences to the family.

An iconic international figure in the global politics and as the first Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew led and transformed the nation of Singapore into one of Asia’s well-developed and wealthiest countries during his tenure of over thirty years. The nation will remember him as an outstanding statesman and a visionary leader whose inspiration and influence will be inked in the history of Singapore in particular and that of the world in general, for generations to come. During his five decades of service to the land and people of Singapore, he has set an exemplary standard as a leader and as a great human being.

In this period of mourning, I and all members of the Centre would like to extend deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers to the family of Mr Lee Kuan Yew and the people of Singapore. We, at Maha Tare Buddhist Centre, pray that the deceased soul find ultimate peace and eventually attain the highest state of Nirvana.
