Maha Tare Buddhist Centre will be organising a fish liberation event on the eve of National Day to celebrate our nation’s 50th year of independence .
According to the Buddhist tradition, saving lives from slaughter and liberating them is one of the most meritorious deeds. However, given the constraints of rules and regulations enforced in cities and urban areas, it is a common practice to buy fishes and aquatic animals and setting them free in the river, lakes, seas and oceans. This life-saving event involves buying live fishes from a local fish farm and releasing them in their natural habitat. In addition, we will also be hoisting prayer flags and conducting a smoke puja at the local fish farm.
We dedicate the merits accumulated from this event to our beloved homeland, and may everyone be blessed with peace and prosperity for many years to come.
