Vesak 2020 @ Maha Tare Buddhist Centre

The Centre celebrated Vesak Day 2020 slightly different when compared to previous years.

Despite the challenges from the COVID-19 circuit breaker, Geshe Lama Konchok was nonetheless able to conduct rituals and prayers over the 3 days leading up to and including Vesak Day (7 May), and friends and members of the Centre were able to make offerings and join in the prayers by remote and to dedicate all merits to their loved ones and all sentient beings.

Over the course of the 3 days, Geshe Lama Konchok carried out, amongst other things, prayers in

honour of Lord Shakyamuni Buddha, the Lord Medicine Buddha Puja and recital of the Abhisamayālaṅkāra “Ornament of/for Realization[s]”, which is a Mahayana sutra revealed by Lord Maitreya to Asaṅga in northwest India circa the 4th century AD.

Notwithstanding the inability of our secondee Ngarampa Geshes from Gyudmed Tantric College to join us in Singapore to partake in the making of a sand mandala in conjunction with Vesak Day, the celebration of Vesak Day 2020 was on all counts a success, and we thank all members and friends for their support. May all be well and happy!
