Welcoming His Eminence the 7th Kyabje Yongzin Ling Rinpoche to Singapore

Tantric Initiations & Special Pujas | November 2025

The receiving of teachings and tantric empowerments from qualified lamas is a vital aspect of Vajrayana practice. The lineage within which one practices assumes great importance because one benefits most from both sutra teachings and tantric practices when receiving direct oral transmissions from accomplished practitioners adept in the relevant practices. These lineage masters derive their authority from a long, unbroken lineage, some of which can be traced back to the time of the Buddha and the Five Hundred Arhats.

It is for this reason that we rejoice in welcoming His Eminence the 7th Kyabje Yongzin Ling Rinpoche to Singapore to give tantric initiations and empowerments.

Born on 18 November 1985, His Eminence was recognised as the reincarnation of His Holiness the 6th Kyabje Yongzin Ling Rinpoche, senior tutor to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and the 97th Ganden Tripa, Head of the Gelugpa Order. The Ling Rinpoche lineage has a special relationship with the Dalai Lamas and is a distinguished lineage in the Gelugpa tradition. The 1st Ling Rinpoche was Trichen Dhondup Gyatso (1655–1702), with many previous manifestations before him, all accomplished practitioners. Starting with Charka the Arhat Udhay during the time of Lord Shakyamuni Buddha, twenty previous incarnations of the 6th Kyabje Yongzin Ling Rinpoche have been identified, including tutors to the 6th, 11th, and 13th Dalai Lamas, the 48th, 75th, and 97th Ganden Throne Holders, as well as kings, yogis, scholars, and lay adepts prominent in the spiritual histories of India and Tibet.

Tantric Initiations & Empowerments

Initiations (or empowerments) into the practice of a Buddhist deity are an essential part of Tibetan Buddhist practice. Blessings from the deity are believed to be multiplied manifold when a practitioner receives the initiation from a lama accomplished in that deity’s practices.

We are honoured to invite H.E. the 7th Kyabje Yongzin Ling Rinpoche to give initiations and empowerments associated with three important tantric deities during his visit in November 2025:

• Green Tara (绿度母) – the Swift Protectress who quickly aids those who call upon her.
• Vaishravana (财宝天王) – Dharma Protector of the Northern Direction, who protects the Buddhist teachings and bestows wealth.
• Vasudhara (财源天母) – Goddess of wealth and prosperity, who grants blessings of material abundance and spiritual growth.

For the empowerment, the lama first self-initiates into the aspect of the deity. The empowerment is then transmitted orally and through ritual, including the placement of ritual objects on the crown of the student, representing the licence to practice the mantra and associated rituals.
