Vesak 2019 @ Waterloo Street: Yamantaka Sand Mandala Ritual, 10 to 20 May 2019

Maha Tare Buddhist Centre will be celebrating Vesak Day at Waterloo Street.  The venue for this year’s event is located in the open area next to the taxi stand beside Stanford Arts Centre. We have invited revered Tantric monks from the Gyudmed Tantric Monastery to construct the Yamantaka sand mandala from 10 to 17 May. The completed sand mandala will be displayed for 2 days (18 and 19 May) for Vesak Day prayers before being deconstructed on 20 May.

Date and Time:

  • Mandala Creation – 10 to 17 May 2019 (8am to 6pm)
  • Vesak Day Prayers & Offerings – 18 and 19 May 2019 (7am to 7pm)
  • Mandala Dissolution – 20 May 2019 (9am)

Venue: Open area next to the taxi stand beside Stanford Arts Centre

In addition, the event this year includes the Namgyalma stupa for devotees to make offerings and to circumambulate. Namgyalma is a special deity who bestows blessings of longevity and the powers to the pacification of obstacles. The stupa was constructed in Nepal and shipped over in time for our Vesak celebrations.
